    In a depression between two mountains of the Aosta Valley, at the time of the Great War, stands the village of Saint-Rhémy: a small group of houses stacked one on top of the other, in the middle of which a sparse bell tower stands out. At nightfall, from one of those houses, some "pious soul" sometimes comes out to venture into the woods and go knock on the door of a shed where Fiamma lives, a girl with such red hair that they seem to dart like tongues of fire in a fireplace. As her mother did when she was still alive, Fiamma prepares decoctions to cure every ailment: asthma, rheumatism, indigestion, insomnia, infections ... Herbal infusions which, in the mouth of the people of the village, become "potions" prepared by a " witch »who sold her soul to the devil. Over the years, only one person has had the courage to overcome the prejudices of the community and form a sincere friendship with Fiamma: Raphaël Rosset. But Raphaël, one day, left for the war and never came back. His brother Yann remained crying for him, who seems to have a singular and apparently unmotivated hatred for the witch of the woods ...
