Panini was founded in 1961 when the Panini brothers, already owners in 1945 of a kiosk in Corso Duomo di Modena managed by their mother ^[1] and in 1954 of the newspaper distribution agency of the same name, ^[1] decided to market the first collection Panini footballers : on the cover the AC Milan player Nils Liedholm . From then until 1988, the Modenese company was managed by the Panini family (four brothers: Giuseppe , Benito, Umberto, Franco ), expanding from year to year to reach turnover in the order of 100 billion lire. In 1970 the illustrated Almanac of Italian football was published; the first album with self-adhesive stickers is from 1972-73.
